FAQs

How does DEEP RELIEF® work?

DEEP RELIEF® products are topical analgesics – they have effective active ingredients that are absorbed quickly into the skin. DEEP RELIEF® products create a sensation that overrides pain signals to the brain. This process is known as ‘Gate Control Theory’. DEEP RELIEF® cold products work by using cryotherapy to decrease inflammation, reduce blood flow to the site of pain, and allow muscles and joints to heal faster by relieving pain and discomfort. DEEP RELIEF® heating products stimulate blood circulation and produce a warming sensation that relaxes muscles.

Should you use ice or heat for pain relief?

Ice Cold Pain Relief Gel, Spray or Patches are recommended for acute injuries, like a pulled muscle, as it helps reduce inflammation and swelling post activity or exercise.

Warming products, such as DEEP RELIEF® Extra Strength Heat Spray, are recommended for treating injuries that do not have inflammation or swelling. Applying heat can help relax muscles and stimulate blood flow to the painful area. Heat therapy is often used by athletes prior to warming up to help stimulate circulation, increase blood flow, relieve muscle tightness, and reduce the risk of injury.

Why use a topical analgesic pain reliever?

Topical analgesics are safe and effective treatment options that provide fast acting pain relief on contact. Products are available in a pain relief cream, gel, or spray.

Effective: DEEP RELIEF® immediately targets the specific source of pain and its powerful active ingredients penetrate deep to reduce inflammation and relieve pain.

Safe: DEEP RELIEF® products are applied directly to your source of pain unlike oral analgesics that travel through the entire body before treating the painful area. Many DEEP RELIEF® products can be combined with other medications for immediate pain relief without side effects.

Convenient: DEEP RELIEF® reduces pain and inflammation without the inconvenience of ice or heating pads. Perfect for any sports bag!

What are the active ingredients in DEEP RELIEF®?

DEEP RELIEF® products contain active ingredients that are safe and effective such as: Menthol (derived from peppermint), Methyl salicylate (derived from wintergreens), and Capsaicin (derived from chili peppers).

Are there any situations when I should not use DEEP RELIEF®?

To be sure that any product is right for you, always read and follow the package cautions and directions.

You should not use products with Methyl Salicylate if you are allergic to salicylates or are taking anticoagulant medications.

Women who are pregnant, or think they may be pregnant, should check with their healthcare professional before using any medications, including DEEP RELIEF®.

Do not apply to open cuts, wounds or damaged skin. You should not bandage or apply a heating pad to an area that has a DEEP RELIEF® product applied.

As with any treatment for pain relief, if the condition you are treating persists for more than 7 days, worsens or reoccurs, discontinue use of the product and consult a physician.
